July 8: The Bays
New Zealand is such a beautiful
country and I was able to visit one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen!
This is one of my last days on my Magellan and the experience has been
incredible. This area was called Byron Bay and it was interesting to see the
difference between beaches here and beaches in the United States. I also
visited Lyall Bay, which was also equally as pretty.

This beach was spotless and I did
not find one piece of trash. These two beaches had signs to keep the area clean
and they were just that! There are clean beaches in the United States of
course, but it was obvious how much more people cared about the environment
here. One girl I talked to from Boston explained
how crazy it is to see the difference in attitudes here. They all care about
the environment and the beaches unlike a lot of Americans. Throughout my whole
time in New Zealand, I did not notice littering anywhere. In the United States,
littering is too common.
I was also able to meet up with my friend from home, Danielle, who is also here in Wellington for an internship!
